Day 57 – Morning (Time suspended while in pyramid)
The Pyramid of Shadows, Sahuagin Pool
Waking from our rest we find that Doc has at last come to his senses and shaken off the stupor brought on by being transported into the pyramid. Bashful however is still suffering the effects; he simply lies on his bed, his feet occasionally moving like he is chasing mice in his sleep and giving out the occasional bark-like snort.
Vyrellis tells us that she can sense the items which we must destroy in order to gain our freedom, however Karavakos can move them at any time so we will need to check all over the pyramid before she can zero in on their current location. She says that we seek the splinters of Karavakos’ spirit; when any being of considerable power is killed within the pyramid their spirit is broken into three shards, lesser versions of the original, which are then scattered through the pyramid. Karavakos was killed within the pyramid at some time in the past and it is these three splinters of his spirit that we must destroy.
Vyrellis suggests that we head west into the Sahuagin territory as she believes that one of the splinters may lie in that direction; she tells us to be careful as the Sahuagin are quite dangerous. Deciding it is best to leave Bashful in the relative safety of the Rathaus with Haggis as his guard the rest of the party sets off back through the prison and down the stairs towards the Sahuagin area.
After a short walk we see dim light ahead and perceive a room at the end of the corridor. Plank bridges lead down to a platform over a large pool of water which covers the room’s floor completely.
“Can anyone else smell fish?” says Sneezy
“Why is everyone looking at me” replies Snow
Despite the fact that we were carefully scouting along wary of danger, alert for attack and were the ones that entered the room stealthily we are caught completely by surprise by the attacking Sahuagin that we were totally expecting to be exactly in the place we found them.

The battle was hard and were it not for our uncanny ability to cast spells and fire arrows while underwater we would likely not have made it out alive; all those weeks spent training at Wet-n-Wild finally paid off. Vyrellis tells us that she knew of this Sahuagin priest and his minions as he once tried to steal her orb; this is why she told us to head in this direction and be wary of attack. She scolds us severely for not having prepared more to prevent them from surprising us in exactly the manner she had described us to expect.
She now says that she can feel something towards the south so we head out through the doors in that direction. There is a room beyond, although more of a wide corridor, with two identical statues placed one at each end. A large door leads further south while another at the other end of the chamber leads back to the north. On searching the area Cymbalta and Robb discover that part of the floor has been rigged to pivot and cause anyone walking across it to be thrown onto the southern wall which itself has been smoothed and polished to a slippery surface.
Choosing not to test the trap at this time we decide to open the southern doorway. Beyond can be smelled the fresh clean scent of trees and grass. Vyrellis suggests that this may be the abode of the Arborials, a group of nature loving creatures who, she says, should not harm us so long as we do nothing to endanger their home.
We thus proceed on doing nothing whatsoever to prepare for the surprise attack which we all know is coming …..
