Eleasias 20th to Marpenoth 10th, 1372 DR The Year of Wild Magic
The Cairngorn Peaks
On their way home from the mines in the Cairngorn Peaks late in the summer of 1372 a group of dwarves discover a young woman, dirty and disheveled but still very beautiful, wandering aimlessly through the woods. She seems to have lost her mind and does not react to any of their questions but as soon as she is touched she responds with kisses and caresses which not even the most noble and true-hearted of the dwarves can resist. With no means of identification, no memory of her past and a sexual appetite that is almost impossible to quench the girl seems like a present from the Gods to the dwarves. Naming her “Sure Thing”, for obvious reasons, they spirit her back to their home and take turns trying to slake her lustful energy. The Dwarves wondered for a micro second what might have turned the young maiden into a raving nymphomaniac, but only for a micro second. So began a wild party that lasted many days & nights, they tried all manner of ….. anyway I digress.
As summer faded and the month of Eleint saw the leaves change to their Autumn colours the Dwarves wiled away the days and nights either in Sure Things arms, or sleeping in their beds to recover their energy for another bout of passion. Many weeks passed in this fashion with no thought given to their mine, the outside world or even their own health.
Eventually, tired and worn out from all this revelry, one of the Dwarves decided to go outside and wash off in the nearby river. However as Doc walked away from their cabin he soon became disoriented and began to feel a great weakness come upon him. The more steps he took the weaker he became until after staggering about in circles for some time he eventually passed but a handful of yards from the cabin door.
It was only when his number came up as Sure Thing’s next ‘plaything’ that the others noticed him missing. Sure Thing pined for her Docie Wockie and begged the others to go in search of him. After a thorough search of the cabin they opened the door and, after waiting some minutes to adjust to the brightness of the outside light, they discovered Doc face-down in their front yard.
Dragging him back inside and throwing water on his face the wise dwarf was soon roused from his stupor. Doc, the oldest and wisest of the brothers, had trained in medical knowledge so that he could tend to the many wounds the miners encountered in their work and he deduced that his condition could not have a natural cause. After some experimentation he found that the further from Sure Thing they went, the weaker they became.
One of the brothers, a Dopey young fellow, thought that if they disposed of Sure Thing it might solve all of their problems. This turned out to be near fatal for all of them, it was only because he passed out and the pillow he had over Sure Thing’s mouth dislodged that they were all saved.
They pieced together the following facts:
* If “Sure Thing” is injured the Dwarves would feel her pain, and if she were killed … well they didn’t want to find out what happened then.
* Any Dwarf that isn’t within 100’ of “Sure Thing” at all times passes out in a short order.
* If one of the Dwarves is physically touching “Sure Thing”, she will become passive and follow instruction.
The Dwarves consulted with a local mage who explained that all of this sounded like a very powerful curse or geas, something he would be unable to help them with given its strength. The mage says that he knew of another scholar that might be able to help with their problem but he had recently gone to investigate some ruins near Winterhaven.
So the Dwarves set out with Sure Thing in tow to try and find the scholar to rid themselves of this hot and totally tractable nymphomaniac girl.
And so the story begins….
